Hello. My question or problem in complex, so please bare w/ me.

I'd just recently purchase AT&T/bellsouth's DSL package. After installing everything, everthing seemed to be in order. I then get a pop up stating that my anitvirus can't update itself due to a conflict. I then attempted to uninstall Norton package. But for some reason, Norton wouldn't let me uninstall it, I then tried to uninstall and reinstall AT&T package. AT&T refused to let me unistall also. My next step was to uninstall EVERYTHING maunually by going into its folder and sending it to Mcafee shredder. Now I find myself having half of a CPU system. I can surf the net w/ ease but can't utilize my windows file and folder search (the window and little dog comes up, but the rest of the box is blank). I tried to do a system restore , but now, windows help and support box doesn't appear when icon is pressed. I tried a registry fix software w/ no help. I can access my yahoo e-mail but the mail area is blank. CPU won't..Help

Optional Information:
Browser: IE

Already Tried:
Registry fix and system restore
