I have a HP Pavillion a1213w desk top computer and ...

I have a HP Pavillion a1213w desk top computer and when I shut it off last night and then tried to turn it on today it does nothing....lets me put in my pass code then shows the wall paper but nothing else...... shows no icons or it will not let me in the system. Whats wrong or what can I do?
