hard drive is full, why?

my mac powerbook g4 is telling me I have used 93 G of space on my hard drive. I have a program I want to install and I don't have enough room. I am a mac novice and I have no idea what has eaten up so much of my hard drive. Any suggestions?

one says backups, one says WRT54GV4, one says WRT54GV4.04.20.7_US_code%2C3.exe, the rest are applications

You can for sure delete the .exe file since that file is for windows and will not run on your mac.

Double click on the Macintosh HD icon and when the window is open click on View > Show View Options

When that window appears click on the Calculate all sizes.

Then take a look and follw the trail of folders based on which ones are the largest.
