When we connect remotely using Cisco VPN client we can get into our Outlook 2003 email and can send and receive. But when booking an appointment with a resource we get "Information Store could not be opened. Unable to directly book a resource for this meeting." I have added the Exchange server to the hosts and lmhosts file. I can ping by IP as well as name. I am at a lost.

Optional Information:
OS: Windows XP; Browser: IE

Already Tried:
Adding Exchange server to Hosts and lmhosts file. Re-created email profile

Reply to Dave K's Post: Yes, we have no issues when in the office and only when we work offsite and use Cicso VPN client.

I assume you are using a Cisco VPN concentrator. Is there a firewall between the VPN concentrator and the public network?

Reply to Dave K's Post: Yes we are and yes there is a firewall. I should also mention that we did not have this issue last year prior to upgrading the VPN concentrator as well as upgrading to Outlook 2003 which by the way is still connecting to an Exchange 5.5 server.

I think it will be best if I leave this to another expert who may be more qualified to help you.

Hello Customer (name blocked for privacy),

Your issue could be that the concentrator is blocking the port within the VPN that passes resource traffic. Within the VPN concentrator and firewall take a look at the logfiles that get created, this should give you a clue as what is being blocked.
