How can I collect POP emails from a Mac Xserve (running the Pop service) WITHOUT setting up a VPN connection

 

Optional Information:
OS: Mac OS X; Browser: IE

Already Tried:
can connect to Pop mail when VPN is set up, otherwise, doesn't authenticate
