Hello,

IN order to convert wave files to text you need a VRP or Voice Recognition Program.

Dragon Dictate is a great program.

However there is a major problem. The VRP programs require time to learn a persons accept and their speach methods to be accurate. The background noise on the recordings, and the lack of learning potenial, you will only get about a 70% result

I hope that helps

Reply to Flagbridge-IT's Post: I am recording interviews to be used in my dissertation. I am interviewing 14 people.
Interviews are downloaded to my PC each evening. So, I have a lot of .wav files that I want to convert to text. I can do it the time consuming way by listening to phrases and sentences and then speaking them into my Dragon N.S. But with a total of 42 interviews each of which is about 90 minutes long it will take me until the end of the year.

I am hoping that someone has created a product that will take an Olympus wav file and convert it into text. I am not shooting for 100% accuracy but something that would take less time than speaking it into Dragon.

Clearer?

Hello

The answer is no, At this point Voice Recognition software is very limited.

When you call 411 directory or call a company that has a VR operator, you know how frustrating it is. Thats because they only record multiple variations for a handful of phrases.

Your success rate will be limited. Could you have a them transcribed by a stenographer?

25 bucks an hour. is 1500 bucks.

I am afraid there is not current software solution, the main reason is the complexity and diversity of the speech, and the power and computation requirements therein.

I hope that helps, despite it not being the best new.
