How do I repair my Kodak EasyShare LS443 digital camera?

The camera powers up while making a grinding sound, but the lens does not extend. Suddenly the camera shuts off.

Ok it appears the extension gears are either stuck or out of synch.


You can take out the batteries

take you camera, and gently tap it on the side of a table/counter say 12 times.

Put the batteries back in and try to extend the lense.

If that does not work, turn off, then take a toothpick. Put it in the side of where the lense comes out (2 mm) turn on the camera and try to give a bit of leverage with he toothpick

If neither of those work, put the camera in the fridge overnight. this will cool it down, and hopefully shrink the gears slightly out of synch back in synch. Dont worry you camera is rated to well below below zero C, and the fridge is 3 C.

If none of those work, it is RMA, warranty time.
