when turning on the computer i get the following: a

when turning on the computer i get the following: a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME Tech Info   STOP: 0x000000ED (0x84202DD8, 0xC0000006, 0x00000000, 0x00000000) I am not able to even get into safe mode Please advise me on what I can do???? Already Tried:
I have tried to get into Setup however i have never set up the administrator password & i cannot do anything if i could bypass the password then i might be able to restore the computer to a previous date

Hello. The message you get indicates a fault in your hard drive or controller - I would assume it is the hard drive itself. You could try booting from your XP installation CD and then choose the Repair Console to see if you can access the drive at all, but I would expect that you cannot.

Restoring to a previous date is a feature of Windows, and since you can't even boot your drive that is not a useful option for you - it does not fix this type of problem.

You are very likely to need a new hard drive and a reinstallation of Windows.
