Hi!
I have a Gateway computer with Windows 98SE. My previous system was the same, although this computer is newer. My first system would print according to the margin settings except for the bottom of the page. It would only print to within 5/8" (approx.) of the bottom (portrait). My present system will print to the edge only at the top, 1/4" at the sides, and 1/2" at the bottom. I can't find anything that says it's adjustable on the printer, which is an HP psc 1100/1200 series all-in-one that I bought new. This is not the same printer I had for the first computer, although that one was also a HP.
How can I make it print according the margins I set? I would be happy if I could get everything to print on all sides to within 1/4" of the edge, but I'd rather that it would print to the edge all the way around. Is that possible? This has frustrated me for years. I hope you can help.

Thank you very much!

Are you saying my printer has a preset margin allowance and cannot be changed? (except for making hte margin wider, of course)
I know you're a computer expert and this may be related more to my printer, but how am I supposed to know what margins a printer will print without calling the company? I could find nothing in the book that came with it.

Hi! When I tried to set the margins to '0' they would automatically return to .07" (top), .46" (bottom), .25" left and right. (in other words, it would not stay at '0') Those are obviously the least amount of margin allowed for this printer. I could change them to anything higher, but not lower. So I didn't try printing again. It would be the same as I got before. I did the test page though, but it didn't prove anything about the margins. They weren't affected by my settings. It only proved the printer was correctly installed.
My printer was inexpensive, so I'm sure this is the end of the road. Let me know if you have any other thoughts. I appreciate your help, and wish I could pay you more, but we're barely making it right now. Better days ahead!
Thanks and God bless you!

It could very well be that your printer cannot print smaller margins. Just make sure that the printer installation and the driver are compatible with Windows 98. If not, and if there is noting else wrong with the printer, I would live with it.

Thanks for your comments. BTW just to make it clear, so far you have only placed a deposit. To process the payment you should click the Accept button next to my answer, that's when we get paid. Thanks again and good luck.

Reply to John D.'s Post: Hello again!
I did click on Accept with my last response and paid with PayPal, and received a receipt that said I had paid. I still have it in my email as proof. I'm not sure what happened, but I did pay. Let me know what else I can do to help. I don't need the $9 that bad that I wouldn't pay you, but since I received a receipt I won't pay again. Sorry. I hope you get it.
