Powerpoint Video Clips Speed up in Vista
Sent to Computer Experts December 23 10:43 AM

I just upgraded to Windows Vista. I lecture and I use Powerpoint. Embedded in my Powerpoint presentation are several video clips of surgical procedures. When I play the program on the monitor, they are fine, but when I connect to an LCD projector, a 30 second video clip plays so fast it is over in 5 sec. This did not ever happen when I used Windows XP. How can I correct this?

I have used both the VGA connection as well as an S-Video connection. When I plug either of these into the laptop, the laptop screen gets enlarged icons. I have gone to the video properties and changed the resolution on both monitors and that does not help.

I did find that in Vista and XP, that I had to go to MSConfig and disable the startup menu so that the videos would play without freezing up Powerpoint. But in XP that didn't cause the present problem.

This has to be in Powerpoint since I can play the videos normally on both the monitor and LCD with Windows Media Player. The problem only shows up when I am doing the Powerpoint presentation.

It always plays normally in Powerpoint on my computer monitor. It only plays fast when the laptop is connected to an external monitor or LCD.

This is the only Vista computer I have right now. All of my other 6 computers are XP. I will try and find one, though.
