I have dishnetwork satellite tv and have 4 tv's hooked up to 2 receivers. I want to hook up a 5th tv (being able to only watch the some programming on both tv's is OK) to one one of the tv's that are not directly hooked up to the receiver (one that uses the UHF controller). I think I need a satellite splitter but I am confused which one I need, one with a single dc power pass or double dc powerpass. If this is not what I need do you know what I can use to accomplish this?

Hi Customer (name blocked for privacy), Welcome to JA :)

The only reason to split the satellite signal is if you are adding a third receiver. In that situation it would be best to call the company who installed your equipment and ask them what parts you would need to do it properly. Dish Network has used many different switch/dish/receiver combos over the years and you'll want to make sure you are doing it right or your whole system could go down.

If all you want to do is add a "mirror" TV that displays the same programming as one of the TVs using the UHF controller, you will need to use a regular 75ohm cable TV splitter to split the output signal going from the receiver to the TV you want to mirror.

The TVs using the UHF remote are still connected to the receiver usually by standard coax line. That's the line you'll want to split and run to the new TV. No powerpass is necessary as it is a standard cable TV signal at that point.
