Hello,

Accessing webmail for hotmail is easy with Outlook 2003. What you want to do is open the Email Accounts dialog from the Tools menu inside of Outlook 2003. Choose to Add a New Email Account.

From the list of services, make sure you select HTTP as the server type. From here, type in your full name and your full email address. Verify that Hotmail appears in the dropdown list for HTTP Mail Service Provider.

Enter your login information. This would be your full email address as well as your password.

Repeat all of the above for any and all accounts you want added to Outlook. This should get you up and running.

Thanks, great!! Also just noticed I'm getting the following error messages from two of my other alias accts routed into Outlook. I can receive fine but can't send out. Here's what it says (I'll work on your recommendation above in the meantime):

551 Command RCPT User not local and relaying not permitted from you (75.120.26.89)[Alias Acct #2]

551 Command RCPT User not local and relaying not permitted from you (75.120.43.96)[Alias Acct #3]

That error is sounding more like you have incorrect outgoing email settings for those accounts. If you can tell me what the email addresses for those accounts are, I can tell you how to go about fixing the problem - if there's even a fix for the problem. It could just be that they don't allow outgoing mail using the protocol you've specified.

Reply to Vincent's Post: They're all home biz-related. I called Melaleuca tech support last night to get proper pop3 & smtp info and plugged in what they said BUT obviously it's not working. Sorry for the delay, was reading the past three days' worth of Dilbert. I bond with "Alice: Fist Of Death", but alas I digress. The two accounts I mentioned are:

Also just noticed some error msg from Hotmail after I used the instructions provided. Hold on . . .

Her's hotmail error msg when trying to check that mailbox via Outlook 2003:

Task 'Hotmail: Folder:Inbox Synchronizing headers.' reported error (0x800CCCF4) : 'An unknown error has occurred. Please save any existing work and restart the program.'

As far as the hotmail error is concerned, please try to do the following. Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Internet Options. Go to the Privacy tab. Click on Edit, type in "hotmail.com" and then click on Allow.

After this you may need to close and reopen Microsoft Outlook. However, once you do, see if the errors still pop up.

In regards to the other errors, I'm going to look into a few things and get back to you.

Hello again.

I'm sorry to hear you're having problems, and I apologize the length of time it took me to get back to you.

In regards to your other email addresses being able to receive information, but not being able to send information, it sounds a lot like you haven not properly configured the accounts' outgoing email server.

To do so in Outlook 2003, you can follow the information on this page. Replace the necessary information in the walkthrough to match the details of your account. Remember that instead of creating a new account, you're wanting to manage your existing ones. Or you can remove the ones you have in there and create them from scratch using the aforementioned tutorial.

When you're done with this, let me know if it helped. If not I'll help you out some more.

Reply to Vincent's Post: Hey, there!!

Right after I sent my note today, I went back into the account settings, especially into the advanced option and got all the biz-related alias e-mail accounts to work fine - incoming & outgoing. The only thing I have left to resolve is the blasted hotmail error message, listed at the top of this thread. I did go into Internet Explorer and changed/added hotmail.com AND even added msn.com but still no luck. By any chance should I have to reboot for the settings to "take" ??

Thanks so much!!!

Reply to Vincent's Post: RE: Hotmail Issue . . . I have my Outlook set up to autmatically send/receive for all accounts every five minutes. I haven't tried to actually send anything from the hotmail acct via Outlook b/c I keep getting the error message when Outlook does a sweep to see if I have any incoming msgs for all my accounts. I'm beginning to develop a deep hatred for hotmail. LOL!!

Close, but no cigar. Changed the settings to turn off the firewall, closed out Outlook, disconnected my DSL and then got back online - same error message. Can I please rename "hotmail" something else that comes to mind at the moment?
