Hi there

Have you tried opening with Notepad? Many .dat files are in binary format and not designed to be read by anybody except the computer and I suspect that may be the case with something as sensitive as a password storage file. However, right-click/open with and choose Notepad to open (uncheck the box to always use this program to open files of this type - IMPORTANT!).

Apparently a program called PSPad (freeware) is good for this too. Have a look at www.pspad.com to see if it could help you.

And finally, importing the file into MS Access may help you see what's in it.

Personally I'm doubtful you'll open it but you could try the above before giving up hope!

(if any other experts know better please feel free to add a comment!).

Kind regards,
LeeseJ
