Hi and Welcome to Just Answer,
Ok we can take a look at this,

The fastest way is to go to Start-> Search

Once there if you know the file name type it in the box, make sure it is on C drive and click search.

If you don’t know the name, in the box type *.doc this will bring up all the documents on your hard drive.

Reply to Michael L....... JA Computer Expert's Post: What I get is a LiveRecovery save of the file with 32 KB of ASF Stream Description. Do I need to convert this? What I get is unexpected file format.

There was a recovery, but when I opened the file it was blank. Now I am trying to find out if there is a copy available somewhere on my hard drive.

If it didn't recover it, it may be corrupted and unrecoverable.

as far as converting it, I don't think that will work either. Best hope it to do a total hard drive search and if you can't find it then it is most likely gone.

Reply to Michael L....... JA Computer Expert's Post: Michael: Before you responded, I had already done a full file search on my hard drive, so I was actually looking to find out if there was a pathway I could follow to find a recovery file, not just the file I had lost. This is my first time using JustAnswer, so if it is ok with you I'll leave the deposit on file.
