Reply to PCman's Post: I am trying to open .xls and .doc files. The computer just freezes and never opens the file. I have to open either Excel or Word first in order to open the file. I cannot open the files from my documents folder or as an e-mail attachment.

Hello,

Please try this:

Open up the "My Documents" folder.

Go to Tools / Folder Options / File Types (wait until it the content appears)

Press the X key to jump to the extensions beginning with X.

XLS should say Microsoft Excel Worksheet. Underneath it should say "Opens with Microsoft Office Excel". If not, click on Change and select Microsoft Office Excel from the list.

Similarly, DOC should refer to Microsoft Office Word.

I hope this helps. If so, please click on the Accept button. Feedback is greatly appreciated. If you need more information, please click on Reply.

Reply to PCman's Post: This is not the issue. There is an associated program associated to the file (i.e., Excel or Word, depending on file type). All I get is the hour glass and in the My Documents folder, it says: (Not Responding).
