Can I create a formula in microsoft excel where a name equals a dollar value? For instance when making an invoice where part ABC is $1.00 and part XYZ is $1.35 can I type ABC in a cell and it will add $1.00 in another cell to calculate the total price for 500 pieces

Hi,

You can type ABC in say cell F9, and have a formula in cell G9 to read F9 then it looks for the value of ABC in the main parts table, gets its price, adds $1 to it, and calculates the price for 500 pieces. All in cell G9. Is this in line with what you want to do?

Sure.

Let's say the main parts table is in cells A1 through B20. And suppose Part Numbers are listed in column A, and the Unit Price are in column B. Now suppose you want to apply the formula in cell G9 for the part number entered in cell F9 as described before, here is the formula in G9:

=(VLOOKUP(F9,A1:B20,2,0)+1)*100

Let me know if you have any questions.

Hope this helps.
