Reply to Andy's Post: I am developing a website in which I am using apache and tomcat. I can currently get my website to run the servlet I want it to run by using an "invoker," which runs servlets that have not been 'published.' This is OK for now, but what I really want to is to set up things a little more formally.

I'd like to figure out to configure a web.xml file so that I can use servlets without using the general 'invoker.' I think this involves something about 'publishing' servlets and 'mapping' them, but I'm having trouble figuring out the specifics. Ideally, I'd like to set things up so that I know how to map a specific url to a servlet, which I can store in whatever folder I choose on my computer.

I'm off to pick up my daughter at daycare, but will be back to respond in an hour or so, if you're interested in helping me.

Reply to Andy's Post: I'm just using tomcat and apache. I'm not familiar with hotdog... maybe that's something I should look in to?

Reply to Andy's Post: Should I buy the hotdog professional version? If it helps me with the servlets I'll be more than happy to press the 'accept' button.

Reply to Andy's Post: Thank you, Andy. I have a website to which people upload data sets. They then specify a few parameters and the servlet uses this information, in conjunction with the appropriate data set, to run a statistical analysis. The website then displays the results of the statistical analysis.

Please let me know if there is any other information I can provide.

Are you willing to change software. There is a piece of software that will do this but I don't think it will like the applet being created in Tomcat. Here is my sugestion.

There is a Applet and a seperate Servlet software. The cost is high, but the functions are awsome and I believe you troubles will disappear with these software titles.

Reply to Andy's Post: Thank you for this info. At this point, this looks like a little bit more than I need.

If I purchase the hotdog software, will it allow me to link my website to servlets, using apache and tomcat?

Reply to Andy's Post: I created it using dreamweaver 2004. But I'm not particularly attached to this software and would be willing to switch
