Mac G4 won't read standard audio discs

standard audio cd won't play--does not show on desktop or open itunes. blank, mp3 disc or data discs are no problem--only standard audio cd, even those burned by my G4

It coulde a sign that the drive is going bad. They tend to lose a feature , then start reading slowly or maing a lot of noise.. It could mean that the drive needs to be replaced.

ALTHOUGH. It could also be a software issue.

Here are my suggestions.

1. Create a new user account and try to mount them there.

2. Archive and Install the OS.. This will create a fresh OS for you to try.

If either of these things do not work, then you will need to replace the drive.
