I have a Compaq Presario 9548 Computer. My problem started when I used the restore disk that came with the computer. The reason I used the restore disk is because the computer had a virus. Every time I start the computer I get errors. The errors start right after it ends the scanning. At first the error said (1790-Disk 0 Error). I disconnected the Hard drive, Cdrom and the Floppy. Then started the system. This got rid of the (1790-Disk 0 Error). Then I connected all the components back and started the computer. Now I got the following. (The following configurations were automatically upgraded: Disk 1:65 If you are running Unix, you need to configure your system using the Compaq User Diagnostics disk). Below this I get 2 options. F1 to save changes and F2 to ignore changes. Note: I have never used the Unix Operating System. I chose F2, which took me to the Screen where I could reinstall Windows 98SE. But when I tried to install Windows 98SE. I got the following message. (Cannot create a temporary directory). If you have HPFS or HTFS installed on your hard drive, you will need to create an MS-DOS boot Partition to set up windows). When I try to go to Fdisk using the Windows 98 start up floppy, I get the Following Message. (No Fixed Disk Present). I have tried using a hard drive I took off my other computer just so I can test this one. But I’m having the same problem. I though it could be a BIOS problem. But I cannot get into BIOS either. I have tried repeatedly hitting the F10 key while the system is booting but it stops at the errors before it can get to the BIOS. I have tried the above steps using Delete, F2, and F1. I still could not get into BIOS. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you. Leo. Ftron2@excite.com
