I'm running Windows XP home edition. Yesterday someone told me that I could sample a very large RAR avi movie by just downloading the first RAR file (as opposed to downloading all twenty or thirty of them.) Well, I tried and it really messed things up.
In Windows Explorer, it shows (in my self created folder called 'assorted downloads') that I have an avi file titled "unknown 13.avi" that is allegedly a whopping 1.3 GIGS. It could not possibly be that large because I only downloaded the first RAR file and that took only about 45 seconds on my cable modem. In any case, I cannot now delete it. I don't care about playing it. I just want it gone. When I try to delete, it says: "ERROR DELETING FILE OR FOLDER Close any programs that might be using the file and try again." I've tried cold re-booting. I deleted that avi from Windows Media Player library, but still cannot delete it off the hard drive. I also tried 'moving' it to an external hard drive, but same ERROR message. My computer thinks that the file is really 1.3 gigs and I need
that space, otherwise, I would just leave it there for eternity. Help, please.Optional Information: OS: Windows XP; Browser: IE I also went and re-configured the recycle bin so as not to send any deletions through it. In other words, something deleted will now NOT be stored in the recyle bin.
