Have you entered the BIOS and checked the IDE section to see if it is listed? Also, most BIOS allow you to scan for new IDE devices.
If it is not listed in the BIOS, make sure the connections are constant. If the connections are fine and it is not showing the drive in your BIOS, then you probably have a dead drive or an incompatible one.
If the drive shows up in your BIOS, and if you have a Windows or DOS boot disk, insert it and restart the computer, when you recieve a DOS prompt type "fdisk" and choose "4" to view current partitions, if it is not in the list you need to choose "1" to create a primary DOS partition, after doing so, restart the computer and leave the bootdisk in, when you recieve a DOS prompt, type "format c:".
