It was fine when I shut down last night, just running slow.

Hello, cstone,

Sounds like your fan is failing. Immediately save all data files that you can, then bring it to a computer repair shop; have them replace the fan and see if that does the trick. The important thing is not to run it till it overheats (which with the Pentiums is quick).
